Racking Repairs, Inspections & Maintenance

Help with damaged pallet racking, cantilever racking and shelving across the North West.

Suspect Serious Racking Damage?

Stop using the affected area, keep people clear and report it to your Person Responsible for Racking Safety. Arrange a competent assessment promptly.

Only take photographs from a safe position. Do not enter an unsafe area or attempt unloading or repairs without an appropriate safe method.

We arrange damage inspections, identify the correct replacement components and plan repairs around the work required. From an isolated damaged beam to repairs identified in an inspection report, we provide a clear quotation and agreed programme.

Send photographs from a safe location to help us identify the equipment and understand the damage, or call to arrange an inspection.

What We Repair & Maintain

Pallet Racking

Damaged uprights and beams, missing or damaged beam locks, bracing and other components. We replace damaged components with the correct, manufacturer-approved parts.

Cantilever Racking & Shelving

Damaged arms, columns, bracing, shelf beams and decking, replaced with the correct parts for the system.

Mezzanine Floors

Damaged decking, handrails, stairs and pallet gates. Where structural damage is suspected, such as to columns, beams or connections, we arrange a structural assessment by a suitably qualified engineer before any remedial work is specified.

Expert Racking Inspections

Expert inspections at intervals not exceeding 12 months, as recommended in HSE guidance (HSG76) and SEMA’s codes of practice. You receive a written report with green, amber and red findings and the recommended remedial work.

How Repairs Work

Initial Contact

Call us or send photographs of the damage. Photographs help with an initial review, identifying the equipment and components and preparing an estimate. They can’t confirm that damaged racking is safe to keep using.

Damage Inspection

We inspect the damage on site, record and categorise it, and set out the repairs required.

Quotation

You receive an itemised quotation covering the replacement components, labour and any unloading or access required. Where components need identifying, or the system is older, we may need to check on site before confirming parts and availability.

Repair

We replace damaged components with the correct, manufacturer-approved parts. Any unloading and isolation needed is agreed before work starts, following the manufacturer’s instructions and an agreed safe method, and the work is planned around your warehouse.

Completion & Records

When the work is finished, we carry out completion checks and give you a record of the components replaced, the checks carried out and any remaining restrictions.

Inspections & Planned Maintenance

An expert inspection looks at your racking’s condition, configuration and how it’s being used, and you receive a written report with recommendations. Spotting damage, corrosion and loose fixings early lets you plan repairs before they become urgent.

Further structural assessment or load-capacity verification can be arranged where required.

We can also help you set up and support your Person Responsible for Racking Safety (PRRS), including advice on spotting damage, reporting it and keeping the right records.

Frequently Asked Questions

What damage needs urgent attention? +

Damage is categorised red, amber or green once it has been assessed.

Red: immediate action. The affected area must be offloaded safely and isolated until it has been repaired. This must not wait for a repair visit.

Amber: no further loads should be placed in the affected area. Once positions are emptied, they must not be reloaded until repaired. If the repair is not completed within four weeks, the damage becomes red.

Green: record and monitor the damage, including any deterioration, at your routine checks.

Can damaged racking be propped or braced temporarily? +

Not as a routine measure. Any temporary support needs a properly designed and controlled method for the specific structure, and fitting props does not on its own make it safe to keep using the racking. We’ll advise on what’s appropriate once the damage has been assessed.

Can you repair racking while it’s still loaded? +

It depends on the damage and the component involved. The unloading and isolation required are decided before work starts, following the manufacturer’s instructions and the agreed safe method.

How much do repairs cost? +

It depends on the components needed, access and whether any unloading is required. We give you a quotation before work starts.

Are repairs covered by a warranty? +

The warranty terms for replacement components and for our workmanship are set out in your quotation.

How often should racking be formally inspected? +

HSE guidance (HSG76) recommends an expert inspection at intervals not exceeding 12 months, alongside weekly visual inspections or other intervals set by your risk assessment. Busy, high-traffic sites may need expert inspections more often. We can set up a planned inspection schedule to suit your site.
